The Motion Capture Lab is the only fully equipped motion capture facility in Auckland offering industry leading technology for performance and facial capture.
We use motion analysis technology that records accurate capture data of bodies, objects and props to help create realistic and accurate animation, while our Faceware headsets give us the edge in facial capture.

A state of the art Motion Capture System by Motion Analysis. The Raptor-4 operates up to 200 fps at a full resolution of 2352 x 1728 pixels, and up to 10,000 fps at reduced resolutions. The Raptor-4 Digital Cameras provide today's motion capture technicians with a tool that assures reliable and accurate data.
Capture volume up to 6x6x3 metres. Capable of up to 6 performer simultaneous capture. Also capable of outdoor motion capture.
Vicon Cara is the world’s first out of the box 3D facial motion capture system. With a custom made HeadRig built for actor comfort, four high resolution, high speed cameras, on-board lighting and tracking algorithms to ensure clean and accurate post processing data results.
The Insight Virtual Camera System (VCS) allows the integrating of real-world cinematography into your virtual production pipeline. Real-time virtual camera tracking is ideal for scouting virtual locations, framing shots, and rapidly iterating on complex scenes.
Our Faceware is a head-mounted camera system that allows you to easily capture realistic facial motion in one markerless take. It syncs with our body motion capture system to give you a full capture service.
Our technical service extends to post-capture. Our staff and students clean the data using Motion Analysis Cortex software, and export it back to you ready for production animation.
